The Phoenix Suns seem to be NBA title favorites for many experts across major sports networks.
Wednesday, a key NBA player picked Phoenix to win the West.
Portland Trail Blazers point guard Damian Lillard appeared with Stephen A. Smith and former NBA guard JJ Redick on an ESPN2 program and offered some perspective on why the Suns are the favorites to win the conference he also plays in.
“I like Phoenix,” Lillard said. “I just think they got the firepower. Obviously, KD, then you got Book, and I think having both of those dudes out there is going to take a lot of pressure of of CP, so he’s going to be fresh, he’s going to be able to give them something.”
Phoenix has become an attractive destination to land star players. It has not been reported Lillard could be connected to the Suns in any way, but Phoenix hasan attractive culture with coach Monty Williams and general manager James Jones inked to long-term contracts.
Owner Mat Ishbia also seems to be reinvigorating the franchise after the departure of Robert Sarver, who was pushed out following an NBA investigation into racism and misogyny allegations.
