Phoenix Suns center Deandre Ayton recorded his 11th career postseason game in which he shoot at least 70 percent from the field with a minimum of 10 shot attempts in the Suns' 123-109 Game 2 win over the Los Angeles Clippers Tuesday at Footprint Center.
Ayton finished with 14 points on 7-of-10 shooting. He also had 13 rebounds in the game in 32 minutes played as the Suns tied their first-round series with the Clippers at one game each.
Ayton, who was selected with the No. 1 pick in the 2018 draft, has had terrific marks in the playoffs through what is now his third run with the Suns.
In Phoenix's run to the 2021 Finals, Ayton shot 80 percent from the field four times, which was the most by a player in a single playoff run in the shot-clock era. He shot at least 70 percent from the field nine times that postseason.
Ayton also had six double-doubles in that run with at least 15 rebounds, which is tied for the fourth-most in NBA history behind Wilt Chamberlain (nine), Bill Walton (nine) and Bill Russell (eight).
Ayton averaged 17.9 points on 64.0 percent shooting last postseason. He also averaged 8.9 rebounds and 1.7 steals in the Suns' 13 games played.
Ayton had a playoff career-high with 28 points in the Suns' Game 3 win over the New Orleans Pelicans in the first round last season on 13-of-20 shooting. He also had 17 rebounds.
Ayton had two games in which he shot 70 percent from the field with over 10 shots attempted last postseason.
The Suns and Clippers will play Game 3 of their first-round series Thursday night at 7:30 p.m. The game will be televised by TNT.
