Arizona House of Representatives proclaim April 16 as ‘Phoenix Suns Day’

The Arizona House of Representatives signed a proclamation Thursday declaring April 16 as “Phoenix Suns Day.”

It is the same day the Suns begin their 2023 postseason run.

Phoenix Suns president of basketball operations and general manager James Jones, CEO Josh Bartelstein, Suns team personnel and their mascot, ‘The Gorilla,' were in attendance for the proclamation

The Suns' Twitter account posted photos of James and others inside the Senate Chamber for the event, as well as a photo of James, Bartelstein and ‘The Gorilla' with the signed proclamation and the Arizona state flag.

Thursday's proclamation is another homage Arizona is paying to its basketball team. It was also reported the City of Phoenix is decorating four crosswalks near the Suns' home arena, Footprint Center, with purple and orange colors.

The Suns will face the Los Angeles Clippers in Game 1 of their first-round series Sunday at 5 p.m. at Footprint Center. The game will be televised by TNT.
